Printer & Copier Toner Recycling
At Copier King, environmental responsibility has always been a cornerstone of our mission, and we encourage our customers to share in this commitment. To reduce the environmental impact of our printer supplies, we’ve partnered with the multi-vendor initiative ‘Circular Planet: A Printing Industry Initiative.’ This program, managed by Close the Loop—a global leader in ink and toner recycling—facilitates the return and recycling of multi-brand Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) used toner, waste toner, empty toner bottles, and empty developer bottles.
This innovative recycling scheme simplifies the collection of used ink and toner cartridges from all participating manufacturers into a single Eco Collection Box. By consolidating the process, it reduces CO2 emissions while increasing efficiency. Close the Loop’s ability to handle multiple brands ensures a significant rise in cartridges collected and a decline in cartridges ending up in landfill, advancing circularity in the printing industry. The cartridges are either recycled at Close the Loop’s facilities or repurposed to create new ones, preserving natural resources and promoting environmental sustainability.
Joining the program is easy. Customers can register on the Circular Planet website, where they can order free Eco Collection Boxes and schedule free pick-ups for full boxes to be processed by Close the Loop's UK collection partner.

Together, let’s reduce our environmental footprint and work towards a more sustainable future.
This program is available to customers across the UK and Northern Ireland.
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive governs how European manufacturers and retailers manage electronic waste recycling. Under this directive, businesses are required to take responsibility for recycling costs for products they sell in the UK once those products reach the end of their lifecycle.
WEEE Recycling Process:
- Visual inspections and material data sheets are used to check for hazardous components.
- Mechanical processing separates ferrous and aluminum materials.
- Copper-based concentrates, including precious and non-ferrous metals, are extracted.
- Plastics are separated from metal fractions during initial and final stages.
- Continuous batch sampling ensures accurate analysis of materials for their environmental impact.
At Copier King, we strictly adhere to WEEE2 regulations, offering device recycling programs to all our customers. In collaboration with DHL Environmental Solutions and Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities (AATF), we ensure that returned WEEE is processed responsibly. The Environment Agency mandates a minimum target of 65% re-use for returned WEEE, and our recycling efforts reduce reliance on natural resources while minimizing hazardous waste entering landfills.
By recycling your devices and consumables with us, you're actively contributing to a healthier planet.
Waste Packaging Compliance
Copier King also prioritizes sustainable waste management through accredited reprocessors, ensuring compliance with the Packaging and Recovery Notes System (PRN). This system allows packaging producers to meet recycling obligations by purchasing PRNs and PERNs, which serve as evidence of recovery or recycling activities.
The funds generated from PRN sales are reinvested into recycling projects, driving the UK toward meeting European recycling targets. By collaborating with accredited reprocessors, we ensure continuous growth in recovery and recycling efforts while reducing our reliance on natural resources.
At Copier King, we’re proud to offer comprehensive recycling solutions for toner, devices, and packaging. Together with our customers, we’re taking meaningful steps to reduce waste and make a positive environmental impact.
