This weeks blog is about Babons Cancer Support in Tonbridge, Kent. We at Copier King always try and support local charities, these vital charities are run by people that give up their own time for us, they make a difference should the world seem a dark place. Babons Cancer Support is a charity that exists to come alongside the cancer community of Tonbridge, whether you are the patient, carer, family member, colleague or friend.
BABONS Cancer Support has been created in memory of Jean Spickernell (called “Babon” by her grandchildren) who lost her life to cancer in 2022.
Jean was a “pocket rocket” who loved her community and always looked for ways to help others even when she needed help herself.
So how can Babons help you or how can you support Babons?
Babons helps everyone that is affected by cancer, they offer counselling services from qualified counsellors, support groups that are run on a regular basis, these alone help so many different people, Men, Women and the LGBTIQ+ community and not just people living with cancer, but relatives, carers, colleagues and friends that may need talk through their experiences. Babons are also on hand for financial support where guidance can be given for P.I.P and blue badge applications, and support with other areas of financial worry. So how can you help? Babons Cancer Support give their time to support anyone impacted by cancer, all of their services are free-of-charge. It is important to them that finances don't stand in the way of accessing help at what can be a very difficult time.
Alongside donations you can help to raise money too. Babons Cancer Support continually host events like quiz nights and comedy nights in the local community. The evenings are great fun and really entertaining, so don't just sit inside, get yourself along, raise some money and help support Babons Cancer Support. Full details can be found under News/Events.

- Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm.
- Anyone impacted by cancer can drop in for a cuppa and a chat. This is for the patient, carer, family member, colleague or friend. No appointment needed.
- 1:1 counselling sessions are available every day. People impacted by cancer wanting to access counselling will be invited for an initial assessment. This takes about an hour. Clients can then receive 12 counselling sessions free of charge. This service is for adults, whether they are the patient, carer, family member, colleague, friend or bereaved by cancer.
- 1:1 or group Art Therapy sessions can be accessed free of charge with a qualified Art Therapist. This service is available for children and young people. They can be the patient themselves or family member/friend of someone with cancer or bereaved by cancer.
- Appointments need to be booked for these services.
